Job Description
A System Operator monitors, controls, and maintains computer systems, networks (LAN/WAN), servers, and data processing equipment, ensuring smooth, reliable operations by responding to alerts, running backups, managing user access, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with IT teams, with specific roles varying from managing power grids to data centers or IT infrastructure, requiring strong technical skills, problem-solving, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring Watch system consoles for errors, unusual conditions, and performance issues in real-time.
Control Operations Start/stop system tasks, manage job flows, perform backups, restore data, and handle routine maintenance.
Troubleshooting Diagnose hardware/software problems, respond to error messages, and resolve operational issues.
Support Coordination Work with system programmers, support administrators, and end-users document procedures
